LOCAL HEROES LAUNCH UK’S FIRST DRIVE-THRU DRY CLEANERS
01/11/11

Residents of Burton were treated to a fun packed 1950’s American-themed day on Saturday 22nd October, as Johnson Cleaners re-launched its drive-in store on Lichfield Street, the UK’s first ever drive-thru dry cleaners.
Following the ribbon cutting by the Blue Watch team from Burton Fire Station, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike and store manager, Shelley Banks, customers were treated to performances by Derby Elite Cheerleading and free hot dogs courtesy of Johnson Cleaners. The 1950’s drive-thru theme was continued with the presence of a 1959 Ford Zodiac positioned on site throughout the day.
As a thank you for opening the store and to show its support for the fantastic work they do, Johnson Cleaners donated £200 to the Fire Fighters Charity Fund.
Those who visited the drive-thru on the launch day received the new valet service from Johnson Cleaners’ staff, which allows customers to drop off their dry cleaning without having to leave their car, and a lucky few were even served by Marilyn Monroe.
Following a £130k investment the drive-thru aims to create convenience for its customers, allowing them to drop off and collect dry cleaning and laundry without leaving their car, as well as offering additional specialist services including alterations and repairs and a shoe repair service.
Talking about the launch day, Shelley Banks, store manager of the drive-thru, commented: “The launch day was a great success and I am extremely proud of what the team has achieved. We have already received some really positive feedback on the new drive-thru facility from our customers, which has made all the time and investment worthwhile.
The team has worked hard to ensure that all customers receive great service and fully understand the drive-thru concept and the extra convenience it provides for them.”
The new drive-thru is situated on Lichfield Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 3RH and will be open 7.30am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, Saturday and 10am to 4pm, Sunday, while the drop box facility and lockers are available 24/7.
