Waterproof garments are an investment, but can become less effective over time at repelling water and rain. Johnson Cleaners re-proofing service offers you an alternative to buying new, expensive waterproof gear to stay dry. Rain-proofing can restore the protection that time, wear and weather have taken away from your garments, replicating the finish applied during manufacture of this type of garment. Re-proofing can be applied to a wide variety of items, including Waterproof Jackets, Over-trousers and Hats and Gloves. To use this service, simply drop your items off at your local Johnsons branch. It will usually take around 10-14 days until your items are ready to collect and wear for your next venture into the great outdoors.
Rectification
At our Specialist Centre we have a dedicated division that deals with rectification issues, partnering with retailers ensuring their garments are improved and enhanced. With over 200 years’ experience in processing garments we have the skill set and expertise to deal with a wide range of textiles, such as; dry clean & laundry off garments removing colour runs etc, suede and leather items, household etc. Plus, we also have the ability to hand finish and repair garments when required.
Within our Specialist Centre we house an Ozone Chamber that eradicates odours and kills mould spores and bacteria. Garments are placed in the Ozone Chambers for as little as 15 minutes or depending on the level of contamination, overnight. With all rectification orders we can ensure an excellent quality control process including pre retail quality audits, part orders, quarantined stocks. As a national provider we have the capability to offer national collection and delivery up to 7.5 tonne capacity as well as the only centres in the UK who offer GreenEarth® dry cleaning; the only environmentally non-toxic dry cleaning solution.
Suedes & Leather Cleaning and Restoration
Do you have a scuffed or marked leather jacket in the wardrobe? A pair of sheepskin boots you only really wear for ‘slouching’ because they got soaked and just don’t look the same? A go-to handbag that’s just not the same since that spill…? Johnson Cleaners’ professional suede, sheepskin and leather cleaning and restoration service can bring tired items back to life. Proper, expert care of natural skins can help you to really make the most of your investment in that special item.
Our highly trained suede and leather cleaning team at the Specialist Cleaning Centre can remove marks and stains, touch up scratches, clean and brush to return prized items to as near the original condition as possible. We even provide a re-waxing service for leathers.
Natural skins are unique and individual and cleaning and restoring them can be a complex process. It will usually take around two weeks to return your items to you, but turnaround times can vary due to the complexity of the processes involved in suede and leather cleaning. The degree of soiling and staining and any special requests for alterations and/or repairs can affect how long it will take to properly care for your item, so make sure you check with your local branch when you drop off your item.
Motorcycle Leather Cleaning and Restoration
When did you last clean your motorbike leathers? Johnson Cleaners offers an unrivalled professional leather cleaning service. Our custom-built centre houses a specialist leather care team and equipment, where your leathers will be individually assessed, cleaned and cared for to restore them to their former glory. Read on to find out more about the two different services available.
1) Full Clean and Refurbishment
Cleaning - We start the cleaning and restoration process using GreenEarth® dry cleaning - a gentle, natural alternative to traditional harsh chemicals that is ideally suited for cleaning natural skins without causing stiffening of leather. Dry cleaning your items (rather than simply washing down) means we don’t just clean the road dirt from the outside. The interior armour and lining of your protective gear is all cleaned just as thoroughly. When you consider how these items of clothing are worn – close to the body, multiple times, often in hot conditions – that’s important!
Refurbishment - Whether it’s classic black or multi-toned racing colour, part of the leather finisher’s art is finding the perfect match to touch-up or re-spray motorbike leathers where needed. Our talented motorcycle leather team mix their own colours, priding themselves on what is, in many ways, the very essence of the leather finisher’s art. Your biking leathers are treated with multiple applications of carefully applied, high quality hide food. This leaves the leather and stitching conditioned, supple and the whole item looking at its very best.
Need an alteration or repair?
We also have an on-site team dedicated to repairs and alterations, so we are able to offer a complete service when it comes to cleaning and restoring your motorbike leathers. Just make sure you let us know when you place your order. Additional charges will apply.
2) Clean only
If your leathers could simply benefit from a ‘freshen up’, we offer a clean only service. This is as per the above cleaning service, using GreenEarth® dry cleaning - a gentle, natural alternative to traditional harsh chemicals that is ideally suited for cleaning natural skins without causing stiffening of leather. Dry cleaning your items (rather than simply washing down) means we don’t just clean the road dirt from the outside. The interior armour and lining of your protective gear are all cleaned just as thoroughly.
How Long will it Take?
The ‘Full Clean and Refurbishment’ service usually takes two weeks, and 'Refresh & Finish' usually takes one week. However each set of leathers is individual and turnaround times can vary depending on the condition of your kit and any special requests.
